Lee got home real late from work last night. Apparently there was an incident, and a helo crashed during training. All three that were aboard walked away. The helicopter came down on one of the runways at the airport...the air station is located at the airport. It will take forever for the reports to come out and we find out what happened. The new budget for the Coast Guard is equal to the budgets they had in the early 90's....they are cutting active duty positions, they are letting people out of their commitments...it is a little bit of a scary time to be in the CG. The money is a lot less....but the mission never changes...the CG was one of the first on scene in Haiti...even with less assets (such as the loss of this and other helo's, planes and the decommissioning of the older fleet)...they still get the job done...under the craziest of circumstances. The CG's budget tends to make me get on my little soapbox and rant a little...ok, quite a lot really!
I am still so proud to be a CG wife and very proud of Lee....he works very hard for our family. He is really good at the job he does for the CG, and thankfully gets a little recognition here and there. Lee is Semper Paratus...always ready to do his job.
