12 Days of Christmas...Day 4

Our tree this year, we invested in a new artificial tree, it is a lot slimmer than our old one, and fits this house really well.

The Christmas tree is typically the centerpiece of everyone's holiday decorating.  I have a couple funny tree memories to share.  Our first Christmas together in our own apartment, Lee was gone at a school for the Coast Guard and did not return home until just a couple days before Christmas...Mason (who was only 1 at the time) and I waited until he got home to get a tree.  We went to a tree lot in Federal Way (WA) and found a cute small tree...it was three days before Christmas....we could not find the attendant.  Lee loaded the tree into the car and tried again, knocking on the trailer door. He tried again and again and no answer...so he said "screw it, let's go" and we did.  So...yeah, we stole our first Christmas tree.  We tried to pay for it, I swear!

One year we went to a "U-cut" place between Eureka and Ferndale.  We found a great tree, a little like my style of tree and like Lee's style too.  Paid for it!! We got it to fit into the back of the Escort so we assumed it would fit into the corner we had designated do it back at home...that theory did not hold out to be true...that tree must have expanded on the way home!!  It literally took up a quarter of the living room! It was huge!!

Here are my two favorite ornaments...tiny framed pictures of my mom and Lee's dad.
